Fibers and maternal lineage to rethink home roles and motherhood.

I am Ariana, the weaver of lineage and resistance

My practice combines painting and textile art with female everyday life and care work. Far from accepting the mandates of «the good mother,» I use weaving, sewing, and embroidery to reclaim knowledge historically relegated to the domestic sphere, turning them into affective and political tools to question stereotypes.

Guided by the roots of Huacrachuco and the legacy of my grandmother Juana, I explore textiles as living memory. With sheep fibers and threads, I weave bodies and vital transitions—from motherhood to perimenopause—creating intergenerational bridges that honor my ancestors and affirm my own identity as a weaver.

I balance to stay.

Reflection on the accumulation of daily activities that fall upon women. With this work, I wanted to bring that feeling into space and turn it into a textile sculpture.

Nest body, root body.

A body that becomes a nest with the multiple embrace of other women who also nested and sustained life. A body that becomes a root because it keeps memory and nourishes.

Mountain woman (the one who nourishes and sustains)

In this piece I used beautiful sheep and alpaca yarns dyed with natural dyes. Even a part was woven with one of my treasures, Huacrachuco wool dyed with cochineal.
